JOHN O’BRIEN, C.T.A., A.T.T.
John qualified as a Chartered Tax Adviser in 1974. He had spent three years with the former Inland Revenue and subsequently spent eight years gaining further personal tax experience in four medium sized firms of Chartered Accountants until starting his own tax practice in 1978.
John is married with two married daughters and four grandchildren. Outside work he enjoys a number of outdoor activities including technical scuba diving, sea kayaking, sea swimming, hill walking and motorcycling.
LYNSEY O’BRIEN, BA (Hons), C.T.A., A.T.T.
Lynsey qualified as a Chartered Tax Adviser in 2005. She had worked in the tax departments of several large firms of Chartered Accountants in the southern counties, becoming Assistant Tax Manager at Grant Thornton LLP in Cheltenham before joining her father at John O’Brien & Co in 2005.
Outside work Lynsey is kept busy with a young family. She enjoys running and is a member of a local running club. She also enjoys trying various adventure sports which, to date, have included Ice Climbing, Canyoning and Paragliding, among others, and more recently she has climbed Mount Kilimanjaro with her husband.
DENISE POYNTER
Denise is an accounting technician with 41 years of experience in the preparation of business accounts. She joined John O’Brien & Co in 1982 and she carries out virtually all of the accounts preparation work of the practice. She has two adult sons who are now developing their own careers. In her spare time she enjoys moor and coastal walking and keeping fit at the gym.
